End of the Year Concerts This Week:

  • Monday, May 14: Percussion and Jazz Ensembles.  Begins at 7:30 pm in the HHS Theatre.  All students are required to attend.
  • Thursday, May 17: Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.  Begins at 7:00 pm at Valleyview Baptist Church.  All students are required to attend.

Band Banquet: Tuesday, May 15 at 7:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa.  Fellowship Hall.

Graduation Band Rehearsals: Monday, May 14 and Wednesday May 16.  3:30 – 5:00 pm in the HHS Band Room.
Details for Friday’s Performance

  • All Non-Senior Students are required to be in attendance.
  • 5:30 pm: Arrive in Band Room.  Dress is shirt/tie for guys and “Sunday” dress for girls.  This is a formal event, and all should be dressed as such.
  • 7:00 pm: Ceremony Begins
  • 8:30 pm: Approximate end of ceremony

New Band Director Final Round Live Interviews: Saturday, May 19, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Lunch included.

  • All students should be in attendance for this important event.
  • Bring instruments and music for “Armenian Dances.”  (Wind Ensemble).  Concert band will also be playing!
  • ALL CONCERT UNIFORMS AND SCHOOL OWNED INSTRUMENTS SHOULD BE TURNED IN AT THIS TIME.
END OF THE YEAR BUSINESS
  • SCHOOL OWNED INSTRUMENTS and CONCERT UNIFORMS should be turned in FRIDAY, MAY 18 and SATURDAY May 19.  Seniors may turn them in as early as MAY 18 after the concert.  Instruments for the summer may be re-checked out by e-mailing Mr. Smith at jnsmith@tcss.net after June 5th.
  • BAND FEES need to be paid immediately.  An e-mail with your remaining balance will follow this update.  You may pay this anytime this week, or at the Banquet tuesday night, where an additional copy of your statement will be provided to you.  VISUALS, please adhere to your payment plan, which extends into the new school year.
  • LOCKERS should be cleaned out and removed of all trash and personal effects.  After the last day of school, anything that is left in lockers will become property of Hillcrest High School.  Additionally, a $10 fee will be assessed for excessive trash, spills, damage, to lockers, etc.
  • If you are not receiving e-mail updates, please make sure Mr. Smith has your correct e-mail address.  E-mail is the primary source of communication over the summer, so please stay close to it for reminders of upcoming dates.
